Needs quite a bit of work, but I like the gameplay. Definitely could use an instructions screen, too!
It reminds me a bit of "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" - I loved that game. Looking forward to seeing this completed!

Bug: If you move the character in one diagonal direction and then go in the opposite direction, the sprite doesn't flip around (for example, if you go right+up and then go left+down, the right+up animation still shows).

Great job on this game! Would definitely like to see something like this with fleshed out characters; it's hard to relate to stick figures.

I want to point out however, the "white box" is Flash player loading the content; not anti-virus or flash player issues... It's either your preloader isn't on the first frame, or the assets are set to load before the preloader. That's why the preloader only appears for a split second after the rest of the content loads. Some evidence of this is if you throttle your internet connection you'll notice the white box will appear longer as it loads the ~50mb of content, and no matter how slow the connection it'll only show the preloader for a split second.

Unfortunately it is something that has to be fixed on your end, and since it's such a large file (for an SWF anyway) you're going to lose people with slower connections that don't realize how much longer it'll take to load.

ExtinctionGames responds:

Thank you for that.
I had tried making it so that all MC's are not loaded on frame 1 and that the pre loader is placed on the stage on frame 1. I don't know why anything could still be loading before the pre loader.

I always love games where you can climb up walls! This is fun, and I love the graphics. The only thing that sort of bothered me is how the foreground moves before the "main stage" moves - it should indeed be moving the fastest, but not when the screen is still!

Vidsneezes responds:

Yea! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. Right now i'm just seating here wondering why i hadn't notice the background moving when the camera wasn't xD going to fix it soon.

An interesting concept...but why Santa? It's September. Why zombies? Zombies wouldn't do very well in snow. Why can Santa not be hurt by something he can't see? The gameplay mechanics would work better with a scared kid and monsters or something (since closing their eyes and "hiding" is classic a scared kid tactic). I like the simplistic nature of the game; it would be great for mobile.

There is also no "restart" button if you lose, and there's no button to go back from the "How to play" menu. Needs a lot of work but shows potential.

This is AMAZING! Though I would describe it as more of an interactive visual novel rather than a point-and-click adventure game...there aren't any choices! (I really didn't want to shoot the sheriff!)

Loved the sound, loved the music, loved the style, absolutely amazing!! I can really see how much was put into it and it really makes a difference!!

Emptygoddess responds:

Yeah. Poor Sheriff guy. Just doing his job ; -;

As others said, very poor controls. In response to your responses - telling people who say the controls are poor to "try better" is being willfully ignorant to issues with your game. Instead of telling people they aren't good enough, maybe fix the problem with your game! A game should be hard because of gameplay mechanics; not because you chose to give it difficult controls.

As it is, this game is no different from the hundreds of other games like this aside from having worse controls; try to think of something that will set it apart!

odiusfly responds:

I fix the controls. Thanks for your time and comments!

Interesting concept, but it needs a lot of work - the graphics are very rough and the gameplay mechanics are pretty sloppy; if I hold down space it makes a loud awful noise and I go flying waaaaay up...the graphics become a strange disconnected landscape, and eventually I fall down and either land on a platform or die. Aside from that one irritating noise, there doesn't appear to be any other sounds or music in the game. I do like the blocky Star Fox-esque style, but it needs some AA. Looking forward to seeing improvements in the final game!
